Le château médiéval d'Empurany

Jusqu'au 30 juin 2024 pour ce projet, la Fondation du patrimoine reversera 1€ supplémentaire pour 1€ collecté dans la limite de 5 000 €.

Le projet de rénovation de la tour à Empurany est une initiative visant à préserver et valoriser le riche patrimoine historique de la commune. En redonnant accès à ce site historique, le projet crée deux espaces d'exposition captivants dédiés à l'histoire locale et à l'art sacré. De plus, une attention particulière est portée à l'accessibilité, avec un espace aménagé pour les personnes en situation de handicap. L'inclusion des élèves des écoles voisines grâce à un dispositif audiovisuel et une maquette du jardin médiéval témoignent de l'engagement de la commune à partager son héritage avec les générations futures.

This project aims to renovate the medieval tower of Empurany and to preserve and enhance the rich historical heritage of the village. By reclaiming the site for the inhabitants, the project plans to create two exhibition spaces – one devoted to the history of the village, the other to religious art. Particular attention has been paid to the accessibility for people with reduced mobility. Thanks to multimedia equipment and a model of a medieval garden, this project will offer an educational program to the various schools of the area with the aim of passing on our history to future generations.

Le cœur du village d'Empurany est un véritable joyau historique, un lieu où le passé se mêle à l'architecture. L'église du XIe siècle trône majestueusement au centre, entourée d'une enceinte médiévale qui évoque l'ancien castrum. Deux bâtiments imposants, une tour et un logis, dominent ce site historique. Empurany a été inféodé en cascade à l’ordre des Hospitaliers de Saint-Jean-de-Jérusalem, aux familles de Tournon et de Retourtour. La première mention du château remonte à la fin du XIIIème siècle lorsque « Sibylle d’Empurany, sœur de feu Guillaume Arnaud, donne à Odon, seigneur de Retourtour, tout ce qu’elle possède dont le château d'Empurany (1280) ». Ce lieu est un témoignage vivant de son histoire, de ses seigneuries et de ses échanges féodaux, un héritage précieux qui raconte la vie médiévale dans la région.

The heart of the village of Empurany is truly a historical gem, a place where history and architecture come together. The 11th century church sits majestically in the centre surrounded by a medieval enclosure that reminds us of the ancient stronghold. Two imposing structures, a tower and a dwelling, dominate the historical site. Empurany pledged allegiance successively to the Knights Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, the Lords of Tournon and Retourtour. The first mention of the fort in Empurany goes back to the end of the 13th century when Sybille of Empurany, the sister of the late Guillaume Arnaud, gave all her possessions, including the castle at Empurany, to Odon, Lord of Retourtour (1280). This place is a living testimony of its history, its seigneuries and its feudal exchanges, a precious heritage that tells of the way of the medieval life in the region.
